Description

The aim of this project was to provide an environmentally friendly learning centre not only for the content being presented but also in the construction of the building. Green Building Principles took centre stage on this design, from the material choices to the functional systems to be incorporated. The building boasts an external tyre wall and an internal rammed earth wall. The partition walls are constructed using echo bricks. Helderberg Visitors Centre and Educational Facility is a flagship project that embodies and promotes sustainable green design solutions in line with The South African Local Government Association (SALGA), Green Building Council South Africa (GBCSA) and (ICLEI Africa) Local Governments for Sustainability framework policies and goals.
