  Vikawu Trust Offices – Lilongwe, Malawi  
   
     
  The proposed new mixed use office scheme is situated in Lilongwe, Malawi. The mixed use office scheme comprises of 2 basement parking levels, a ground floor accommodating a parking deck and entrance to the building, and first floor accommodating a 250 seat auditorium, cafeteria, snack bar and a lounge as well as some office space. There are 11 dedicated office floors of 12 320m2 in total. The central entrance foyer to every floor is situated between the two wings of the building floor an provides maximum flexibility of tenant size and configurations. The roof terrace offers views of the city and surrounding landscape. The brief called for a high quality high rise office block, incorporating mixed  
use on the first floor. The two office wings of the building is configured around a central glazed atrium that serves as a light well into the building. The design intent of the building was to frame the glass facades of the office wings with a off shutter concrete frame. The two office wings are lifted off the parking platform with columns to create the impression that the building is floating. The building design incorporates sustainable green building features and an extensive photo voltaic renewable energy plant on the roof. The building is designed to incorporate passive design concepts to minimise energy usage. The building will be an icon in its context.
